TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The junta artillery shells wounded the mother of a junta police officer and destroyed two civilian houses in Tat-U Residential Ward, Tanintharyi Town, on Monday (August 29) at around 7 p.m.
Daw Nyunt, the victim, is the mother of the junta police officer who serves at the Maw Hill Police Station. She was transported by junta council troops and junta police for medical treatment in Tanintharyi Township and has since returned home.
Around five junta artillery shells fell near Daw Nyunt’s house. Among them, three exploded, while the remaining two that did not explode were cleared by the junta police.
Junta soldiers and police are guarding her house and two houses in Ban Law Village that were also affected by junta artillery shells.
The junta soldiers stationed at Lay Tha Hill, Tanintharyi Town, recklessly fired these artillery shells. On August 25, the junta soldiers fired heavy artillery shells and machine guns at the residential wards of East Maw Tone Village Group and Ye Phyu Village without engaging in battle. The entrance of the monastery was hit and destroyed.
