SAGAING DIVISION – The junta troops raided Padu Village with over 1500 households since May 19 and have been looting and torching the houses for ten days until (May 29) and the stolen goods from the village are reported to be transported to junta Division 33 based in Sagaing.
“The dogs (military soldiers) have not left the village yet. They are torching several houses. Locals could not return home as they are still in the village,” said a local news source.
Padu Village is a big village, having seven wards, and prosperous with many stores and petrol stations. Currently, the junta troops have stolen and torched one ward after another and have reportedly been transferring the looted goods to Division 33, since the evening of May 24.
Due to the junta raids, more than 6,000 locals have been fleeing since May 19 and need assistance, especially food and shelter.
Wetlet People Strike Force reportedly donated rice to the IDPs but the assistance is still insufficient.
“We donated rice that in total cost 9 lakhs, but its not enough for the IDPs. We still need to assist the IDPs from the Mandalay Region and hope to get more assistance,” stated Wetlet People Strike Force.
Junta troops have been committing several war crimes in Sagaing Division, including burning over 3000 housings to ashes in Sagaing alone.
