THANINTHARYI DIVISION-Due to ongoing clashes between the military junta council forces and revolutionary groups near Mount 1020, the military council conducted an airstrike in the area the afternoon of May 2, according to reports from ground comrades.
It has caused passenger and cargo vehicles to be stranded in the vicinity of the fighting. Around noon, the area near Mount 1020 was struck twice by air, with over 20 bombs being dropped, as reported by ground forces.
A member of the revolutionary ground forces commented, “Our side wasn’t hit. They dropped bombs indiscriminately, not knowing their target exactly.”
The military junta council first bombed the area around Mount 1020, and the second time they targeted a location close to where a skirmish had occurred at a distance from Mount 1020.
After the military council’s airstrikes, Mount 1020 and its vicinity experienced disruption in telephone lines, leaving the situation unconfirmed and making it impossible to communicate with travelers and locals who have been stranded on the road since April 30.
The revolutionary forces began targeting the military junta council’s camp on Mount 1020 since April 30, continuously engaging the area.
