TANINTHARI DIVISION – Dawei City Residents said that the warships moored at the harbour in Kyet Sa Pying Ward were firing heavy weapons towards Launglon township this morning.
Those five warships were in the area of Kyet Sa Pying Ward on December 11 evening. It came to the bank of the Dawei River near Customs Port.
According to the residents of the city, they started firing about four shots with heavy weapons at around 11 a.m. on December 12 in the direction of Long Lon city from military vessels equipped with heavy weapons.
“Guns are also fired. We can hear the sound of guns being fired all around here,” said a resident who lives in the vicinity of the shooting.
In addition, the residents said that the Junta Council soldiers have guarded the entire Customs port area where the Junta Council warships are moored.
According to the residents of Launglon, the artillery shells fired by junta hit Ywa Haung Wa, Pandalae and Thabyar villages in Launglon Township.
The state of damage caused by the weapon is not yet known.
On December 9, while junta council soldiers were patrolling in two boats, to Tha Byay Shao and Tha Kyet Taw villages in Launglon Township, they were attacked by a heavy weapon believed to be an RPG.
Locals said that the boat was damaged and the soldiers of the junta council were killed due to the shooting, but it cannot be confirmed independently.
A resident said that the five warships of the Military Council docked at the port of Dawei were still there as of 4:30 p.m. on December 12.
Other than Launglon township, there have also been instances of junta council vessels firing heavy weapons on land in Thayet Chaung Township as well. In addition, there were also naval battles in Pulaw and Kyun Su townships.
