BAGO DIVISION – It was reported that the residents of Mone Town did not dare to return their homes due to the junta’s re-control over Mone Town in Kyaukkyi Township.
As a repercussion of the fights inside and outside of Mone Town that started around 12:00 p.m., on December 2, around 70,000 civilians from 95 villages, including six residential wards, have been forced to leave their homes to save their lives.
In addition, the terrorist junta sent its reinforcements with air routes starting from December 8, and have been re-deploying in the outskirts of Mone Town.
The displaced people said that they were worried about the resurgence of the fights between the terrorist junta forces and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) there due to the re-deployment of the junta army inside Mone Town.
It was said that civilians have been killed, monasteries, public buildings and residential houses in Mone Town have been devastated by nefarious junta’s ground and airstrike attacks.
At present, the fascist junta forces have deployed in the Town and some nearby villages, and so the number of civilian casualties has not yet been confirmed, Karen National Union (KNU) said.
One of the displaced people said that the locals who had returned to their homes, while the fighting had stopped for a while, were trapped in the town.
It was reported that 120 of murderous junta soldiers were killed, while 50 others were injured during the capturing of junta’s bases around Mone Town. The family members of the terrorist junta soldiers and a second in command were also captured alive during the fights.
Although the KNU reported that the KNLA joint forces also had casualties and injuries, the casualties of terrorist junta forces have not yet been confirmed during the encounters.
