THAILAND – Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin plans to visit Mae Sot to monitor the situation on the Thai – Myanmar border due to the escalating clashes occurring in Myawaddy Township in Karen State, according to Thai media.
Thailand Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang said that the Prime Minister will visit Mae Sot on April 23 and encourage the Thai military and security forces. In addition, the Thai – Myanmar border situation will also be investigated, The Reporters reports.
At present, more than 3,000 refugees from Myanmar side sheltered to Thailand territory due to those fights, the Thailand Government has resettled these refugees and provided them with humanitarian assistance. Injured people were treated in Mae Sot Hospital.
