KAREN STATE – The people of Myawaddy Township said that 1 car fleeing the war was shot at, 2 young girls were killed and 2 parents were injured.
On the morning of April 20th, when the fighting was very intense near No. 2 Friendship Bridge, people came out to escape the war. At that time, a war evacuation car drove out at high speed. When the car was shot, 2 young women in the car were killed and 2 parents were injured.
“The fighting at Bridge No. 2 was intense, so U Kyaw Zwa’s family drove out in a car to escape the war. They were shot. It is not known which group shot them. It happened when the terrorist army was shooting with all their might on that side. U Kyaw Zwa’s daughter and daughter-in-law were killed. U Kyaw Zwa and his wife were injured and had to be admitted to Mae Sot Hospital. The 2 little girls ended up in the car. There are also some corpses of people who were shot and killed near No. 2 Bridge. I can’t even pick it up,” said a resident of Myawaddy.
It was said that from yesterday night until this morning, the junta council used fighter jets and Y-12 planes for bombing. It is known that many people have been affected by the bombs dropped by Y12 planes.
“There were casualties when bombs dropped from airplanes. We couldn’t enter the area where the bombs were dropped, so we don’t know how many people died. I heard there were burned houses and some dead bodies in No. 5. No one dared to go there yet,” explained a resident who fled the war.
Today, people are stuck on the side of Myawaddy, and hundreds of people are also stuck on the banks of the Thaungyin River, as it is not possible to cross from Myawaddy to the Mae Sot side because of No. 1 Friendship Bridge is closed.
