KARENNI STATE – It was reported that the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Pin Lel Kway camp on the western part of Demoso Township have been forced to run away from their homes for over two years and want to return home, but they have not been able to return because of the landmines planted by the atrocious junta army, according to the IDPs.
A total of 17 households with around 80 people from Ta Nei U Kwaing Village have been sheltered at this camp since Man 2021.
“I want to return to my home, but I am not allowed. I used to cry out every night in the past because I missed my home. I just encourage myself that not only I have been suffering from this crisis but also many others. In the past few years, I could look after my house for a while. But now we are aware that the murderous junta forces plant landmines, we don’t dare return homes, and our houses have been destroyed,” said a displaced woman.
It was said that the IDPs have been sheltering in the jungles, are unable to run businesses for their living, and do odd jobs sometimes.
As long as the IDPs in Karenni State have been displaced for a long time, their temporary shelters have been damaged. According to the IDPs, they are in urgent need of food supplies and shelter due to the skyrocketing prices of commodities and the difficulty of transportation.
