SHAN STATE (NORTH) – Ta’ang Women’s Organisation issued that 18 civilians were killed during the one month long battles in Nam Hpat Kar Village, Kutkai Township, Northern Shan State.
This is the list of civilian casualties within the battles between KIA (Kachin Independence Army) and the fascist junta council in Nam Hpat Kar. The battles started from December 29, 2023 until January 25, 2024.
The Ta’ang Women’s Organisation stated that the civilians were killed due to the junta council’s heavy weapon attacks and aerial bombardments.
Besides the civilian casualties, it is said that monasteries and schools were also damaged.
In addition, because of the continuous battles, around 1,000 civilians have been forced to flee.
According to the data by Ta’ang Women’s Organisation, 25 civilians were killed and 28 civilians were said to have been injured in Nam Hpat Kar Village since the start of Operation 1027 last October 27.
The fierce battles broke out when KIA started attacking the junta council’s Infantry Battalion 123. After almost one month, on January 24, KIA managed to capture the camp completely.
