SOUTHERN SHAN STATE- Lt. Col. Aung Ko Win, the instructor of Kalaw Military University, was reportedly killed by a drone bomb in the Pekon battle. Persons close to the family said that although the military officially notified the family in Monywa about the death, they did not return his body.
Lt. Col. Aung Ko Win, a native of Monywa Township, who was serving as an instructor at the Kalaw Military University, was ordered to lead a 60-strong platoon to fight in the Battle of Pekon. On March 8, Lt. Col. Aung Ko Win was severely injured by a drone bomb and passed away on March 9.
“Lieutenant Colonel Aung Ko Win is a native of Monywa. His house is near Pazzawtaryone monastery, Aung Chanthar Ward, Monywa Township. The family received a telegram from the army that he was killed in the front line but the body was not returned. He was reportedly cremated in the front line, in the army camp,” a person close to the family confirmed.
The military council ordered the soldiers and officers of the armed forces( support forces) to frontline battles as the combat forces were killed in the (frontline) battles. It is known that the armed forces, like the combat forces, have many causalities on the front line.
