KACHIN STATE – On March 26 night, it rained heavily in Hpakant, and some houses were damaged by hail.
It has been raining and hailing since 10:30 p.m. in both the upper districts of Hpakant and in the jade mining area.
“There are a lot of galvanized steel sheets cracks due to hail. There was Rain, wind and hail. There are also damages caused to the gem finders,” said a local.
After raining heavily for about 20 minutes, the weather conditions stabilized again and the weather conditions are back to normal on March 27th morning, residents said.
Due to the hailstorm, the roofs of many homes were damaged and galvanized steel sheet prices increased the next morning. Locals said that there was a shortage of goods until they could not buy them.
Last March 20 and 21, in Chin State, Karenni State, Sagaing Division and Magway Division, there were heavy rains and strong winds hit places, causing damage to schools and religious buildings as well as some residential houses.
During the month of March, Cumulonimbus clouds are starting to occur, and in some regions it may rain untimely. Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM) has warned public about strong wind and heavy rain.
