KARENNI STATE- Colonel Phone Naing, the commander of the Karenni Army (KA), replied to the media last Friday (July 28) that the joint Revolutionary Forces attacked junta troops on the outskirts of Phasaung Town and reportedly seized some weapons and ammunition on previous morning.
“A battle took place yesterday morning on the north side of Phasaung Town on the way to Loikaw Town. Our members learned that the enemies were in the big house and went to attack them. As for the causalities, I guess many of them are injured. We didn’t receive any specific information about causalities on our side other than the report of confiscating some weapons and ammunition from the enemy,” said Colonel.
“It is not yet known about the exact casualties on both sides during the battle, but (at least) around twenty from their side, by judging from the seized weapons and ammunition. We couldn’t count the causalities as the junta jets came in. If one confiscated this much weapons and artilleries, the casualties could be ten to twenty. I am just making a guess. I couldn’t keep the count on the junta’s aerial bombing. It was frequent” he added.
From last July 21 until today, a battle has been going on between the joint resistance forces and the junta army, which has been advancing toward Phasaung Town in the east on Thanlwin (Salween) River with more than 300 ground forces.
