KACHIN STATE – It’s been reported that the Military Council troops who had towed 2 motor boats from the Shweku port and went up to Bhamo township July 8 night were attacked by the KIA (Kachin Independence Army) and PDF (People Defense Force) allied forces in the second narrow river of the Irrawaddy near Zingbom village.
A local said that the Military Council closed the Shweku township harbour at around 8:00 pm on July 8, towed 2 motor boats, and about 100 military forces went up to the Bhamo side.
“At July 9 morning, they said that they are dropping off patients at the Sinn Khan,” said the local.
It’s been reported that the military council and the KIA have been fighting since July 3 in the Myitkyina – Bhamo Road, Namsanyan and Dopphonyan areas, and the KIA intercepted and attacked the military council columns that were advancing on the Namsanyan side.
