MANDALAY DIVISION – According to local residents, the junta army raided Daung Gyun Village in Madaya township by the river, arrested local people, and burned the village as well.
On September 27th morning, two ironclad ships and some speed boats that came up the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay City, brought a military group stationed at Thone Hse Pay Village in Madaya Township and came towards Daung Gyun Village.
After that, around 5 o’clock in the evening, they came to Daung Gyun Village, opened fire with heavy weapons, arrested the people nearby, including fishermen, and set fire to the village, said an official of the Madaya Township People’s Administration Body (PAB).
“It is known that the villagers of Daung Gyun have been captured. The exact number is unknown,” the official from Madaya Township PAB said.
It is said that when the junta warships were approaching, they also kidnapped a passenger carrier from Mandalay’s Mayanchan Port and forced it to drive in front of the ships carrying the junta council troops.
Currently, there are nearly a thousand people fleeing the war in the western part of Madaya Township, and some people are trapped in Daung Gyun Village, so the situation is unclear, a local said.
