MANDALAY DIVISION – An official from No More Dictatorship People Defence Force stated that they attacked the junta council’s Central Division Command at the Mandalay Palace and Military Intelligence Office 16 at the main workshop of the military directorate of electrical and mechanical engineering with 80mm mortars.
Around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday (August 1), one round each of improvised 80mm mortar shell was said to be fired into Mandalay Palace at the corner of 66th and 14th Streets, the base of the junta regime’s Central Division Command, and the Military Intelligence Office in the workshop near Than Street in Amarapura Myokwatthit. It is said that only one round each was fired due to product error.
“As we used improvised weapons, there were some issues with the ammunition. We couldn’t retrieve the mortars for the security of our comrades. We will be carrying out even better missions. We would also like to request for even more support from the public for necessary weapons and ammunition. This mission was also a show of strength to those of our comrades in captivity, a sort of military threat,” said the official from No More Dictatorship People Defence Force.
The attack was conducted by members of the Mandalay based No More Dictatorship People Defence Force and the force informed that its members had safely withdrawn after completing the mission and also cautioned the people to avoid the site of the mission for the time being.
