MANDALAY DIVISION – Junta jet fighters bombed near Konesan Village in eastern Mogok and the village to the west of Dawnankyi Mountain in western Mogok around 3 p.m. on Sunday (September 17), according to locals.
Since September 10, Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) joint forces have been clashing against junta forces in Konesan Village in eastern Mogok which is reportedly why the junta council carried out the airstrikes.
“It’s not in the town. The airstrikes targeted rural villages. Five bombs were dropped. Junta jets have been hovering the whole day,” said a resident of eastern Mogok.
The junta jets that carried out the bombings were said to have taken off from Mandalay’s Tada U Airport, and the details of damages have not been reported yet.
A resident of western Mogok also said, “It was almost like a movie. The jets flew over as they fired. Two bombs were dropped. They did not target the town but the villages west of the town.”
TNLA and its Mogok-based allies such as Battalion 1221 and Battalion 1223, are locked in fierce combat against the junta forces in Mogok Township as part of Moe Lone Mhine Operation and the civilians have been notified to stay away from junta council troops.
