SAGAING DIVISION – The Thallawati Defence Force – TLWDF Information Officer reported that a junta soldier was killed and a gun and ammunition were seized when resistance forces opened fire on junta rearguard soldiers near Tharsi Village in Monywa Township.
On October 23, at around 7:00 a.m., three soldiers from junta artillery battalion 508 remaining behind while others were reinforcing Tharsi prison were ambushed by the People’s Defense Forces. One was killed and the other two ran away.
“The (junta) column came from artillery battalion 508 to Tharsi Prison. We didn’t attack the whole column, just the soldiers from the rearguard force. We ambushed them and the exchange of fire lasted a few minutes. We had the upper hand. Two of them ran away and the remaining one was shot dead as he resisted,” said the information officer of TLWDF.
An MA 1 gun, more than 200 bullets, a hand grenade, two extra magazines, a bulletproof plate, a 60mm grenade, a set of equipment, and a phone were confiscated and the dead body was buried properly.
“We buried the body of the junta soldier following military regulations. Since we had enough time, we cremated him properly. Regardless (of friends or foe), people should treat each other with respect, right? Our troops are confident that we could win the war with dignity,” said the Thallawati Defense Force – TLWDF information officer.
The attack was carried out by Monywa District Battalion 27 Company 2- Thallawati Defense Force, The Titan Defense Force, and the Mohein Defense Force, and the allied forces were able to fall back unharmed.
