RAKHINE – Mrauk U Cultural Museum and Library were hit by junta artillery shells and suffered damage on Monday (December 25), said residents.
The shell dropped over the building that stored stone inscriptions and sculptures, and its status couldn’t be determined despite the damage to the building.
According to videos spread on social media, the building was destroyed. On Sunday (December 24) morning, fighting between AA and junta forces began.
During yesterday’s battle, three civilians were killed because junta infantry battalion – 540 fired heavy artillery shells at Sin Cha Seik Residential Ward in Mrauk U, said the Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes AA.
A 5-year-old child also lost one hand due to junta artillery shells. The fighting continues on Christmas Day, and civilians are also fleeing.
