RAKHINE STATE – On December 11, the ABSDF Thatthon District Information and Communications Department reported that a junta policeman from Company 4 of the No. 1 Border Guard Battalion based in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, sought refuge at the ABSDF Student Army.
The soldier reportedly contacted the ABSDF Army on December 9 as he no longer wanted to serve under the terrorist war council.
He had run away from the border police battalion and stayed at Yangon when a military informant reported him. He is said to have escaped from the chase and arrest of junta troops with his wife and their 8-month-old baby.
The policeman and his family who contacted the ABSDF were evacuated to safety and arrangements are being made for accommodation and basic needs.
