BAGO DIVISION – The junta council carried out air strikes in a clash at Shwe Thaung Village of Yedashe Township at the east bank of Sittaung River, and both sides faced casualties in the battle, Daung Minthar Nyi Naung Column of Northern Thandaung Defence Force (Special Region) Division (4) reported.
Clash started after the junta army of 100 soldiers in strength stationing at Shwe Thaung Village monastery was being attacked with small and heavy weapons on September 7 at around 3 p.m.
“The junta column was there 3 days before the battle. The battle lasted for about 45 minutes. We had to retreat since the junta side started to make air strikes,” an official of Daung Minthar Nyi Naung Column said.
Atrocious junta army bombarded for about half an hour using one helicopter and a fighter plane.
Two from junta army were reportedly killed and ten others were injured and one revolutionary force of KNLA allied forces fell in the battle.
Over 600 civilians from Shwe Thaung, Kyauk Pon Villages have fled due to the battle and the junta army has been still stationing at the Village’s monastery.
That attack was carried out by joint forces such as KNU Brigade 2, Northern Thandaung Special Region Defence Force (NTDF) led by Mr. Ko Gyi, and Daung Minthar Nyi Naung Column of Northern Thandaung Special Region Division (4).
The terrorist army has been reinforcing their forces at the border area of Yedashe Township of Bago Division, along the Strategic Road of the east bank of Sittaung River, and Thandaung Township of Karen State. It is reportedly known that the military tension is continuing high in the region between the junta army and the Defence Forces.
On July 30, three junta soldiers were also killed in an attack while the junta group was patrolling in Sittaung River between Yezin and Doetan villages.
