SAGAING DIVISION – The terrorist junta soldiers and subordinate Pyu Saw Htee militia blocked Muu canal that distributes water to the fields in Seikkhun and Htanzin Villages in Shwebo Township, making it difficult for over 1,000 acres of summer rice to get water.
Muu canal is a water channel from the main Muu canal beside Thilone Village and blocking it has made things difficult for the farmers. And when some farmers went to unblock the canal, they had to run away as the junta forces opened fire on them.
“Farmers went to open the blocked Muu (canal) on February 24. The Pyu (Saw Htee militants) shot at them so they had to run away. Now, no one dares to go there so around 1,000 acres of fields in Seikkhun and Htanzin Villages are facing problems with farming. It’s not easy for the farmers to pump water for the fields from the wells either,” said a local resident.
Local people shared that the Pyu Saw Htee militants were waiting at the southern part of Thilone Village and shooting at the farmers who approached the canal.
