UNITED STATES – Myanmar nationals abroad are protesting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) Summit that will be held at San Francisco, USA, asking the leaders not to sell military weapons to the Myanmar junta council.
The APEC summit, consisting of 21 member nations including the U.S, Russia and China will be held from November 15 to 17.
Russia and China who are selling military weapons to the junta council are part of the APEC and the Myanmar expats have been protesting near the site of the summit since November 13.
A protestor said that they are protesting to send a message to the APEC member nations that include Myanmar’s neighbours such as India and Thailand as well as ASEAN member Singapore that they should not join hands with the junta regime.
The main message of the protest is to not sell aviation fuel and military weapons to the junta council.
Thousands of protestors have similarly gathered at the site to protest the APEC leaders regarding environmental issues and the Israel-Palestine issues.
