KARENNI STATE – According to Karenni military sources, nine, including a military council sergeant, were killed and 12 others were wounded in a clash in Nangkoot Ward, Loikaw.
On Wednesday (August 9) at about 7:00 a.m., it was reported that the junta council soldiers leaving in a dumper car from Nangkoot were intercepted by the Karenni joint forces.
A Karenni Army (KA) news source informed that during the battle, nine terrorist soldiers, including Sergeant Soe Hlaing and Corporal Lwin Oo, were killed and at least 12 were seriously injured.
“The dumper car was hit by an RPG and fell into the ditch. They were junta troops from Infantry Battalion (66),” he said.
The Karenni Army and Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) soldiers were not harmed in said battle.
“The encounter was not long, just a few minutes, but the junta council reportedly have to bring cranes to recover their troops. I heard that some weapons were also seized,” said a Karenni military source.
However, KA and KNDF officials have not made any comments regarding the battle.
Currently, in Karenni (Kayah) State, battles are breaking out daily in Hpasawng, Mae Se and Demoso.
