CHIN STATE – Chinland Defence Force (CDF) Hakha announced on April 22 that those wishing to chop trees for lumber or fire wood or produce charcoal will have to apply to the related regional land and forest secretary five days in advance.
The requirement covers Zokhwa Region and Mael Region as well as Hakha City in Hakha Township and includes not just personal use but also religious and public uses.
In addition, a four day notice is required to be submitted to the land and forest department of CDF – HCC when transporting lumber, firewood or charcoal out of Hakha Township to other regions.
Lumber without permits and illegal logs will be dealt with according to the laws and stipulations determined by CDF – Hakha City Council.
