TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The junta convoy carrying officials of Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL) was detonated by a landmine while traveling from the East Woodland Region to Dawei City.
The convoy consisted of 15 vehicles and approximately 200 junta soldiers. It was detonated at the entrance of Wa Kone Village on Wednesday (June 28) at around 2 p.m.
“We used two offensive mines to attack. The officials of MEHL were also included, but we couldn’t confirm the casualties,” said an official of Dawei PDF.
On June 25, the junta soldiers left Hein Nar Mining Field for Kyaukme Hill Police Station. Then, they proceeded to Dawei, passing through Htee Khi – Dawei Road. Previous night, they rested at Wa Kone Village and recklessly fired heavy artillery shells nearby.
“They fired over ten heavy artillery shells throughout the night and also fired at Pa Khat Village,” said a resident. This afternoon, the junta troops arrived at the monastery in Thingan Tone Village. The junta convoy was continuously intercepted on the road and sustained casualties.
They visited Hein Nar Mining Field and Phaung Taw Hydroelectric Plant. Before their arrival, BUDOZARs and the old Phaung Taw Hydroelectric Plant were set on fire.
