TANINTHARYI DIVISION – According to local residents, a junta captain who used to extort money on the streets in Dawei Township was shot dead on Sunday (May 7) afternoon.
The junta captain shot dead is said to be Captain Myo Lin Oo, aged around 36, of the No. 302 Artillery Regiment based in Zahar Village. He was reportedly shot and killed at around 12:00 noon on Sunday on the entrance road to Pa-Auk Monastery in Zaha Village, near the battalion.
“I heard that the face was severely damaged (from the gunshot),” said a resident. The locals also said that the junta captain shot and killed used to stay out on the entrance road to Pa-Auk Monastery and extorted money from the passing passenger cars traveling to Thailand. It is not yet known which group shot him.
At present, the military council is reportedly carrying out searches in Zaha Village. The No. 302 Artillery Regiment in Zaha Village is only about six miles away from Dawei, and it is the regiment that provides artillery support fire during the battles in Dawei Township and whenever the junta council’s check point gates were attacked.
