BAGO DIVISION – According to local news sources, a citizen who was arrested in Phyu Township for not having a motorcycle license was tortured and died at the Phyu Township Police Station.
On the morning of May 4 in Phyu Township, Bago Division, 31-year-old Ko Bo Bo, who lives in Oak Phyat ward, Aye Chan Thayaryay Street, was arrested by the police while he went shopping because he did not have a license on his motorcycle. After that, Phyu Township Police Station opened a case against Ko Bo Bo under the Import License Law and detained him. Then, 3 days later, on May 7 at 2:00 a.m., he was tortured and died.
“There have been people who have died in the same way before. There were those who were tortured and died while in custody at the Phyu Township police station. In the case of Ko Bo Bo, he died after being tortured by junta dogs but the cause of death was written as a homicide on his death certificate. It was not mentioned clearly why he died, “said a local news source.
The body of Ko Bo Bo was already transferred to the morgue in Phyu Township People’s Hospital when the family went to the police station after hearing the news that he passed away. At the time of his arrest, Ko Bo Bo was in good health and working as mason. He left his wife and 2 children.
