In a tragic incident, at least six individuals killed when an infantry convoy belonging to the junta military council was intercepted and attacked while transporting weapons and food to a front-line camp in Sindho village.
Reports from the People’s Defense soldiers indicate that the attack took place as the People’s Defense Joint Group targeted a returning military council column from a forward camp in Tanintharyi Township. The convoy, identified as Infantry Battalion (561), was en route to Khmara (561) after delivering supplies to the front camp in Sindho village when the interception occurred.
At approximately 11:00 this morning, the People’s Defense Forces launched an attack between Kyusengone Village and Taung Bain Village, using two mines to initiate the assault. This led to an hour-long exchange of gunfire between the two sides.
A soldier from the 2nd Battalion of Myeik District, who participated in the battle, shared, “They were walking on the forest road when they hit a landmine. Six individuals were injured in the explosion, and there may be additional casualties.”
The targeted junta military council column comprised approximately 60 soldiers, who responded to the attack by utilizing heavy weaponry, including 40 mm and 60 mm weapons.
During the intense exchange of fire, a member of the People’s Defense Joint Force sustained minor injuries after being hit by a 40 mm projectile, as reported by a People’s Defense soldier.
Furthermore, it has been reported that a local house suffered damage when struck by a 60 mm artillery shell fired by the military council.
The attack was executed by the Myeik District Battalion (2) of the People’s Defense Army, in collaboration with the Tanintharyi People’s Defense Team.
Prior to this incident, at around 9 o’clock in the morning, gunfire was heard near Ban Kyuk village, although no casualties were reported as a result.
