KACHIN STATE – It is reported that a battle broke out between the junta army and KIA No. 19 Mobile Battalion between U Htang Yang and Ta Li Villages, near Do Phong Yang in Momauk Township, on Friday (July 7).
There had been a fierce battle between the 100-strong junta column, which advanced from Momauk, and Kachin Independence Army (KIA), stated a KIA source.
During the clash, 42-year-old Ms. Reggy from Do Phong Yang was reportedly shot and injured.
Starting from the last week of June, military tensions rose again in the areas close to the KIO headquarters of Laiza such as Momauk and Winemaw Townships, and clashes re-emerged between the junta and KIA forces. As a result of the fighting, locals from Namsanyan Village on the Myitkyina – Bamo Road are forced to flee again.
