SAGAING DIVISION – Junta forces suffered casualties in the battle at Nwarchankone Village in Kani Township on Sunday (August 20) and the People’s Defence Force (PDF) captured a junta sergeant alive.
The battle at Nwarchankone Village started on August 18 and has been ongoing for three straight days. A PDF member confirmed that a junta sergeant was captured alive in the battle on August 20 morning.
“We captured two near Nwarchankone and Kyaukmhaw Villages. One resisted and ran away so we had to shoot at him. The other one we have captured also had several documents on him,” said the PDF member.
A four hour long battle broke out at Nwarchankone Village on August 18 where there were large junta casualties and a PDF soldier also received light injuries.
The junta forces, suffering heavy losses, torched Nwarchankone Village and set up camp there and the junta Northwest Command at Monywa also provided heavy artillery support. The Northwest Command once again provided heavy artillery support on August 20 after junta troops lost horribly in battle.
Currently, due to the ongoing military situation, residents of Kyaukkone, Innpat, Nwarchankone, Kyaukmhaw and Kyakshar Villages had to flee to safety.
