KAREN STATE – Karen National Union (KNU) and allied forces capture junta’s Taung Kyar Inn police station on Kawkareik and Kyainseikgyi Road, on December 28, according to local news sources.
Taung Kyar Inn police station located in Kawkareik Township, and also in KNU’s Brigade – 6 military operations area.“I heard that the police station was seized. Some terrorist junta forces were killed and some surrendered. The whereabouts of Myauk Kyar Inn is still unknown,” said a local of Taung Kyar Inn.
It was said that the junta army provided airstrikes with its fighter jets, while the KNU and allied forces stormed the police station.“The fighter jets didn’t bombard, but opened fire,” said a local of Taung Kyar Inn.
In order to capture Kawkareik Town on the Thai-Myanmar border trade route, the KNU and allied forces launched a heavy attack on military bases in Kawkareik Town in early December.
As a result of the fighting, the Asia border trade highway was also closed, and the fighting is still going on in Kawkareik Town.
