KACHIN STATE – It is reported that the Kachin Independence Army-KIA and PDF joint forces attacked the military council camp in Namgon gold mine, Tanai Town, on Monday (March 18).
“The battle starts around 5:30 a.m. The military camp was surrounded and junta army opened heavy weapons. Locals are fleeing,” said a resident of Tanai.
There were intense fights in Namgon village back in 2017. The KIA and PDF joint forces attacked the Military Council troops who had been stationed there since then. The details of the ground battle are not yet known.
“They (KIA-PDFs) are fighting one camp after another. Now they started attacking Tanai Town,” said a military source close to the KIA.
The KIA and PDF are conducting offensives against military council camps in Kachin state, and it is reported that they have captured 2 more military camps in Momauk Town in the morning on March 18.
On March 17, military council camps in Momauk Town were being attacked and 7 military camps were reportedly captured on the same day and 2 more military camps were captured the next day (March 18), according to a Kachin military source.
It is reported that the KIA has been attacking military council camps around Laiza and in Kachin state starting March 7, and reportedly seized more than 30 camps in 11 days.
