NAY PYI TAW DIVISION- Locals said that an administrator who attended a rally condemning ethnic armed groups and supporting the military held at Naypyitaw City Hall was shot on his way back home on November 16, around 7:30 p.m.
The administrator of Pin Laung Village, Lalway Township, who was returning home on a motorcycle after the army rally, was shot at the village entrance by two unknown gunmen, reported a local from Kyauk-O village.
“The administrator lives in Kyauk-O Village. He was shot when he came back from a rally held at Naypyitaw City Hall. I don’t know if he is dead or not. He was taken away in an ambulance and guarded by a lot of soldiers and police. Security is tightened at Lalway Town now,” he stated.
A person close to the district administration told the media that the victim was Mr. Thet Tun Aung, the administrator of Pin Laung Village, who suffered three bullet wounds and was taken to the military hospital for examination.
“Since the protest in front of the city hall in the morning, the army has ordered the police department staff and administrators to be alert. It happened after being warned,” said the informer.
Naung Taw Lay, the chief editor of the military council’s propaganda media, Myanmar National Post, led the rally in front of the Nay Pyi Taw city hall on November 16.
Similarly, Ms. Shwe Sin Oo, editor of General Life News Agency, led the military support event held in Zeyathiri Township on November 11.
