KAREN STATE – The Allied Revolutionary Forces including Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defence Forces (PDF) reportedly captured Papun Town in the territory of Brigade – 5 under Karen National Union (KNU), on March 28, and there were no junta troops in the town, according to the revolutionary source.
“KNLA, PDFs and Allied Forces controlled Papun Town. The town is devoid of the terrorist junta army. This time, it did not just retain the town, but completely governed the town. There are still the junta bases in the township that will continue to be seized,” explained the ground revolution source.
KNU’s Brigade – 5 has announced on March 24 that KNU’s Brigade – 5 and the Revolutionary Forces had blocked all the roads leading to all junta’s battalions under South Eastern Command, Strategic Base (1) of the terrorist junta army on the southern part of Papun in Karen State.
Starting from March 19, KNLA and Allied Revolutionary Forces reportedly had blocked all communication roads between the junta bases, Mei Ta Yoe, Wai Naung, Ta Khun Taking and Wai Hsar under South Eastern Command, Strategic Base (1).
The Supreme Headquarter (KNU) has stated in December 2020 to withdraw all territorial expansion and rule of the terrorist junta council in Karen State and to drive them out if they do not follow the statement. The acquiring of Papun Town is the follow-up action of the statement by KNU.
