KACHIN STATE- A Kachin military source stated that the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked Tan Thone Htaung Military Council camp in Hpakant town on Wednesday (March 13).
“Yes. It was the Tan Thone Htaung camp. KIA seized it around 11 a.m. today (March 13),” said the informer.
The military situation in the region, including the seizure of the Military Base, is still under investigation.
A few days ago, KIA also attacked and reportedly seized Tarmakhan Army Camp in Hpakant Township and Kathine Mountain Camp.
A source said that the KIA intercepted the junta column retreating from the Tarmakhan military base, led by the battalion commander. Military council members including the battalion commander (the rank of lieutenant colonel) were injured and dead and some weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
On the other hand, KIA launched offensives on military council camps near Laiza and along the Myitkyina – Bhamo road starting March 7, and many military council camps were captured.
