KACHIN STATE – It was reported that the junta column with around 50 forces, led by major Thant Zin Ko Ko of Infantry Battalion – 121 in Mong Hkawng Ywar Thit base in Mansi Township, deserted their base, and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) acquired the base with no sweat, according to KIA’s news source.
At midnight on March 23, the KIA-led Revolutionary Forces approached the junta’s Mong Hkawng Ywar Thit base Mansi Township, to attack. But Thant Zin Ko Ko, second in command of Infantry Battalion – 121, led a junta column with around 50 forces ran away from their base and the KIA reportedly had stationed there at 00:30 a.m.
“The Revolutionary Forces haven’t fought yet. The camp was easily captured because the terrorist junta soldiers ran away,” the KIA source said.
