MON STATE – The New Mon State Party Against Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) stated that they attacked the military council’s Phaung Sein Toll Gate at the entrance of Thanphyuzarat Town and there was an exchange of fire between the two sides.
NMSP-AD spokesman Naing Banyar Mon said that about 15 military council forces were stationed at the toll gate, and the attack took place after 8:00 p.m. on March 21 and the shooting lasted for about 20 minutes.
“We found out that the administrator of Phaung Sein Village was injured in the battle,” said Naing Banyar Mon.
It is said that Mr. Aik Mon, the village administrator received a shrapnel injury in the thigh from a heavy weapon shell that blasted near Phaung Sein Village Ward Administration Office near the toll gate and is being treated at Thanphyuzarat Hospital.
The junta camp was also fired upon with several rounds of M79 and RPG from the NMSP-AD side, according to the spokesman.
The official news page of NMSP-AD also announced that four members of the military council were killed during the battle, but the media is not able to independently confirm it. NMSP-AD members were able to fall back without any harm, according to the statement.
Last March 16, NMSP-AD and KNLA Battalion 27, in collaboration with Taung Nyo Column People’s Defence Forces, attacked the junta gate at the entrance of Phayar Thonesu (Three Pagodas) Road in Thakaw Village, Thanphyuzarat Township. It is reported that three soldiers of the military council were killed when a drone bombed the military council gate.
The New Mon State Party-AD, which carried out this operation, is an anti-dictatorship group (AD) that broke away from the former New Mon State Party last month.
