MAGWAY DIVISION – According to the locals, local administrative authorities working under the junta regime fled from their homes with family members in Min Hla Township, Thayet District, Magway Division.
The village administrative chiefs near the villages of Lin Ke, Mee Laung Kone, Pe Taw Kone and Ka Daung Zawk and Kan (central) in Min Hla Township and Taung Yan village in Mindone Township are reportedly frightened by the killing of their counterparts in said villages in the night of November 26 that they dare not continue to remain in their residences and have started fleeing.
“It is heard that the villages where the incidents took place and others at the edge of Arakan Mountain ranges (Rakhine Yoma) were raided and, having been informed of the imminent raid, the village chiefs from other villages managed to escape,” said a Min Hla local.
It is said that not only the village chiefs from Kyat Laung Village in Min Hla and Kan Kyaw Village in Mindon Township but those from the villages located at the edge of Arakan Mountain Ranges also fled with families.
According to some locals affiliated with the township junta authorities, the village chiefs in the villages near Min Hla including the villages of Ma Lon, Pan Taw Pyin, Mae Zali Taw and Mann Than Paya Kan, etc were ordered by the junta regime to move to the Metropolitan police station.
It is known that the junta soldiers are patrolling by four military trucks in the Lin Ke prefecture, where the killings occurred, and nearby villages to deploy their troops.
PDF (People’s Defence Forces) in Min Hla (upper reach) delivered an ultimatum in June, demanding the 76 administrative chiefs in the township to resign from their positions under the junta council.
