MYANMAR – United Nations (UN) has urged that all the detainees, including the 78-year-old State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi who is being detained in Nay Pyi Taw, should have access to health care.
The UN official spokesperson voiced the statement when he was asked for a comment by journalists over the concern of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s son on his mother not getting health care.
“All the detainees have the right to health care, and we will continue to demand the release of the leaders of the National League for Democracy including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi,” the UN official added.
The concerns emerged from people including her son living in the UK after the reports that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was suffering from toothache and unable to eat in the past few days.
The junta council denied those reports that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was in poor health and responded that they arranged regular health checkups for her.
