SHAN STATE – It is known that the military council troops captured by the KIA in Northern Shan State have been transferred to the local social assistance group for humanitarian aid following the International Prisoner of War Law.
It was learned that 17 (17) prisoners of war were captured last October 30th, 2023, when the KIA attacked and captured the Nam Hai camp of the junta council’s front line, located in Mai Maw village, Mantong township.
A member of Namtu Good Friends Social Assistance Association said “Yesterday (November 5th, 2023), our good friend Namtu Social Assistance Association office was phoned and said that the 17 prisoners of war to be transferred back to their respective units under the International Prisoner of War Law. There is no need to fear anything. Please come and collect them in a convenient place and send them back safely to their mother battalion or family members.”
(17) members of the Junta Council captured by KIA have been well received by our good friend Namthu Social Assistance Association. The KIAs gave medical treatments well. I saw that they were treated humanely. They were transferred under the Prisoner of War Act. This is good and a model of valuing humanitarian and human behavior said an elderly member who accompanied the prisoner of war.
U Aung San Myint, who is in charge of the Namthu Good Friend Social Assistance Association, and the members received 17 (17) prisoners of war from the KIA in front of the witnesses in (2) cars.
